END OF ARC 1: DAY 171-172 BATTLE
[At dawn of Day 171, the battle begins again. It's the same as before, only both sides' troops are better organized. The first day will go badly: losses will be heavy, as the forces of Asgard as their allies seem overwhelmed by the numbers and ferocity of their opponents. The more battle-ready gods themselves can be seen openly on the battlefield today (Thor, Heimdall, Baldr, & Freya as melee. Loki, Sigyn, & Hel as mostly-unseen magical support. Freyr is still on a boat.). At night the battle pauses for a few brief hours, only long enough to bring in the wounded and the dead.
However, on Day 172, things begin to look up again. Another wave of reinforcements arrives, this time a large army of mostly human but partly elven forces, along with a few leaders who can quickly be pointed out as gods. This new army helps turn the tide, and this day goes well for the "good" side (though only by a slim margin).
But it still isn't over. In fact, it seems like it could draw out for a long time, until every bit of Asgard's side is destroyed.]

EZIO AUDITORE | DAY 171/172 | VARIOUS LOCATIONS | OPEN
Ezio is on the move, along the rooftops and swiftly making his way through the battle, aiding where necessary and striking down enemies left and right if the situation calls for it. He is a cloaked figure in white, hood up, face unrecognizable except for those familiar with the Assassins, but that does not matter in a time like this. He will fight for the people, and that is what counts.
Find him, aid him, be rescued- it's your choice. He is everywhere and nowhere all at once, and this will not be the last battle he remembers.]
because they should hang out more
Those being the years she practiced hand to hand combat training, along with the charm powers this city had given her.
All she could do is charm the enemies and make them attack each other, or hold them still long enough so that she could knock them out, but it was better than nothing.]

Because you can never have enough fight threads
But this time, he decides to take to the rooftops himself, aiding others when he can. He doesn't have a long range weapon, but it always takes enemies by surprise when he leaps down from above.
But when he catches sight of Ezio, he gives a slight grin before making his way towards the other. He doesn't exactly need rescuing, but fighting together-like they had the day before-was always the better option.]

BECAUSE. UM. BECAUSE.
But he's taken Ezio's advice and is fighting more conservatively, partly because it's smarter and partly because he's not used to fighting this much for this long. His stamina isn't what it should be.
But he's fighting anyway, because it's what he can do, and because he can push through the tiredness and stress and anger and just... fight.
He's still catching himself being overwhelmed by the fury, because it's hard not to, but anger can't burn that strong for that long so it's not as often. It doesn't propel him through the day like it did before. And now he remembers how dangerous it is and how stupid it is to work like that. To fight like that.
Alastair doesn't know what else to do, but there are people who need help. So he fights.]

Day 171/172 | All over the place | Open
It was very hard to function with key tendons cut and bullets in your legs, after all.
If he found someone in need of help, he didn't hesitate to rush in, if someone offered their help, he was more than willing to accept. He wasn't a soldier, but he could fight to the last ounce of his energy.]
d172 Early Morning - Conan/Feferi/Shou/Samantha
[The first signs of reinforcements from Vanaheim could be seen, the battle joined. The rays of dawn's light were still pale and thin in the morning and Samantha had a slightly tired expression as she surveyed the battlefield. She had put a call out onto the network, testing to see if she could find anyone insane enough to join her on this little adventure. There was no way in hell this would work without at least a power boost. Thankfully, she'd heard back some affirmatives. It might still work, or it might not.
There was only one way to find out.
The troops from Vanaheim had relieved just enough pressure that for the moment the field medic teams weren't being called en masse. However, she could see rank upon rank of those frost creatures, pixies, giants and wyrms and there were still multiple dragons flying in the sky. If they didn't do something to weaken Thiazi's ranks somehow, Vanaheim's support wouldn't amount to enough. It was time to even the odds, and Samantha could see a point just up ahead that, if they were lucky, they could try just that, at least, assuming this even worked and everyone else was insane enough to try.]
God, I hate waiting.
no subject
[And here's Feferi, bounding over and looking remarkably cheerful for the situation at hand. While she waves with one hand, though, her two-pronged trident is in the other. She's cheerful, but she's not stupid.
The idea of getting to use her powers for something other than just draining any enemy she came across to aid her in killing them is pretty exciting in general, actually. This whole thing is pretty exciting!]

Day 171/172 | BATTLE FIELD, ENEMY OPPONENT
[He was doing well.
In the first battle, Vanitas had kept his unit out of the war's main spearhead, instead choosing to keep their strength reserved for the second round. They had fought, though, and with his keen battlesense he'd only lost four of them (just ice imps, and one lesser giant) out of around seventy total, while damaging Asgard's forces by a few dozen killed or critically wounded.
His unit's strategy was proving to be very effective. The remaining ten ice imps took up the front, hurling projectiles of ice into enemy units from a distance. Then, when the gap had narrowed to only a few dozen yards, they fell back and let the lesser giants clash with swords, axes and whatever other weapons they'd brought with them. That left two Frost Giants in the back, to close off their rear and make sure no one could come too far around the sides. The ice imps assisted with this, once they were taken out of the front.
So far, Vanitas had also managed to steer them clear of the boat hovering over the battlefield, and of nearby 'friendly Fire' units. Vanitas himself was leading from the center, equipped with his helmet as well as a few pieces of armor (chest, shoulders and arms and loin), and finally a sword that had already received some nicks and wear. But what made him an even more difficult opponent to get to, was the fact that his powers had grown, right before the start of the first battle. And where he could only make smaller shadows before, he could now use much larger ones to move himself away, or even grow shadows into huge, fearsome beasts that could aid with the fight.]

She's got Dog with her, but she's considerably more wary than before thanks to Kaz. As she makes her way from wounded soldier to soldier she's careful to keep away from the direct fighting.
Unfortunately she's eventually making her way to the group that's fighting Vanitas' unit. And despite her caution she'll find herself there while the fighting is going on. She doesn't notice Vanitas quite yet, so she's focused on keeping her side's strength up.]

[DAY 171/172 | THE FIELD | OPEN] Healing!
[War is a truly terrible thing.
The only thing keeping her from losing it is being completely and utterly focused on what is in front of her, which is a severely injured... elf? Daphne has absolutely no idea, but the poor creature is half-dead and bleeding profusely on her hands as she pours whatever energy she has into keeping the being alive. After all, they are fighting for them, desperately, and every soldier deserves the slim chance to go home.
It's while she's so focused on her work and murmuring calm comforts to the creature writhing in pain underneath her fingertips that she does not immediately notice the monster lumbering toward them, fire unfurling from their mouth as it growls in warning.]
[B: WHO NEEDS A HEALER]
[Daphne is also running around the field as much as she can, healing as she goes. If you need healing, she can help! If it's seriously awful, she also has a damage draining husband around somewhere. She's sure she can track him down.]
A - d171, probably around late morning/midday
And that was when she saw Daphne, and that was also when she saw the bull-like thing stamping to charge towards them. The red-head stepped into Daphne's field of vision and her hands reached out into the air, eyelids fluttering.]
Don't you think you have something better to do?
[She had a nasty sneer on her lips as she pushed with her will on the creature, causing the thing to shudder in its tracks. It struggled, but Samantha had noticed the change in her powers.]
Hurry up. I can redirect it, but others will come.

Jo Harvelle | Day 171/172 | open!
[The beginning of the battle always seems to go well for Jo. She's rested, pumped, ready to go. After being healed well enough the day before, and with enough time to recoup, it was just a matter of getting back out there. So if you manage to run into her near the beginning of the battle, you'll find that she almost seems to be...having fun?
No, that's not the right word for it. She's not a child, she knows war when she sees it and she's been noticing that people don't seem to be coming back. But that doesn't make her hesitate in any way - she's reloaded with a new set of arrows for Bobby's crossbow, she's got more ammo, more strength.
And, to top it all off, she's got a better handle at how far she can push her powers. If you need a level two energy boost, she's your girl, or even if you didn't. Jo's keeping an eye out for people with aggressive powers, things that will do massive destruction with just a little push. So even if you weren't asking for it, it's possible she may just run up to you, put her hands on your back and give you a little boost before running off again. At first she'll probably reserve it for people she knows, but especially on Day 171 when things don't look good, she might get a little reckless.]
situation b: late Day 171/172
[In comparison to the beginning of each day, Jo's running low on fumes. She's one of those people to shrug off medics, even when she obviously needs them. If she can still stand, she can still fight, and there are other people out there who need it more than she does.
But her powers are weaker at this point, which means she's relying more on her actual weapons. This is when she goes for the headshots before the powers. She can't let Sam win today. But bullets and arrows only last so long, which means she's down to closer quarters fighting. Which is great, a 5'4" blonde taking on a bunch of fire and ice giants? No big deal.]
A!
She wishes her braid cable still worked, but at least everything else does. Elfa cocks her pistol, reloads, and darts again into the fray, right by Jo. Let's see how they work together.]

Kate Beckett | Day 171/172 | open!
[When the battles begin, and as the first day of these two rages on, Kate is just about everywhere. She's fighting here, draining damage over there, helping someone else over here. She's avoiding getting too hurt by the fact she doesn't stay in one place long enough for the giants to land a good blow. And yeah, by the end of the day she's exhausted, but what's that saying? She can sleep when she's dead? There are people out there, good people, who are fighting and dying for her safety. For the safety of the city. And there's no way in hell she's not going to do everything she can to help them.
She doesn't even have time to sit and think about things, she's moving around so much. Someone over here needs a healer, but the healers are busy. She'll just take away some of their pain so they can move easier, and then she's got a giant over here that she takes down, shoots in the head. The battle can't possibly go on like this for much longer, but as the end of day 171 approaches and the beginning of 172 draws near, she realizes that maybe it can. Maybe this battle will just go on forever, and if that's the case, she will have to as well.]
situation b: late 172
[It was only a matter of time, really. Kate knew this was coming and she expected as much, she really did. Her power was not very forgiving when it came to being used, and the more she tried to help the worse it got for her. She had managed to find healers before, but they were growing just as tired as she was, and she liked asking for them less and less.
Which means, of course, that she had to hit a wall at some point. She'd been dizzy for hours, bruised, beaten. There's a gash at her side that's been bleeding for a little while now, and she's not even sure how she's still standing. But she is, and she's fighting, for now. All it'll take is one good blow when she's not looking and Kate isn't sure she'll get back up. Or revived, for that matter, but a part of her knows that if she can just stop one of them, give her allies enough time to rest for just a moment, it'll be worth it. Right?]
situation b!
He has been using his power in camp, but on the battlefield there was no time for that; he'd be no use to anyone dead, and the damage he sustained on his own and took upon himself during their too short reprieve slows him down enough. But when he sees her he doesn't hesitate for a second.]
Kate -- ! [he runs to her side, cutting down an elf in his path without losing a step. Instantly, he's by her side, his arm unburdened with his sword reaching up to steady her.] It's alright - you're going to be alright - [he'll makes sure of it. He eyes the blood on her side and without a moment's hesitation moves to take it upon himself. He's no use to anybody dead, but if this will cost him his life - for the life of a friend it's a price he's willing to pay.]

Alisa Bosconovitch | Day 171/172 | open
[ After seeing the corpses of natives scattered all over the battlefield, Alisa feels uneasy--no, that's too light a word. She is overcome with so much emotion that she can barely bring herself to function. ]
It is unfair. This body defies nature, so I cannot share their fate.
[ She kneels next to a corpse to close his eyes and put him to rest. ]
There is a directive I must accomplish, but is it all right for me to remain as I complete it?
DAY 172, daytime
[ It's unfair, but there's a reason why she's still alive. She can stop this war. She can stop the bloodshed.
Armed with a gun, Alisa gives it her all in the battle today. And when she runs out of bullets? That's fine. She can take these guys on with her bare hands. It's time to buttonmash YYYEAAAAHHHHH Anyway, the creatures that you'll find her going up against are all ice giants. She'll have a greater aversion to fire this time around. Can't save lives when you're out of commission. ]
Day 171 // Ichigo is probably going to give a shonen pep talk help
He'd been walking around, mostly unable to settle down. He knew he should get some rest-they were probably going to attack again tomorrow-but he just...couldn't. He was too keyed up, and he felt that even if he couldn't see the dead anymore, that he should at least walk among the corpses and bring them a semblance of rest. They couldn't do any real cleaning and burials until the battle was well and truly over, but...
And it's then he sees Alisa, and hears what she says.]
What are you talking about?

171/172 | OPEN | Battlefield/Healing
[This is all too familiar to Castiel.
He picks through the battlefield, keeping aware of Daphne's general location, though they've split up for the moment while Castiel had been involved in a fight. It was easier said that done with the enemies being elemental, but he fared relatively well against the ice creatures even without any sort of fire weapon; it just took more strikes from his sword than would be necessary otherwise, and occasionally a blast from his shotgun.
The fire extinguisher had been doing wonders against fire enemies.
This battlefield is different than so many in Castiel's memory, though, because the only ash on the ground is from the fire creatures. There are no shadowy imprints of massive wings under the bodies, no lingering static charge in the air from dispersed grace, no metaphysical hole in his heart where a connection to a sibling should be. It makes this whole fight so much easier than those he's used to.
He seems utterly calm as he encounters another patch of enemies on his way back to his wife, cutting through the enemies in his path. But there are a lot of them and he can use some help, especially as worn out from using his power as much as he has.]
[B: Healing]
[He has, reluctantly, cut down on the amount of damage draining he's been doing. His energy is low and that makes him less precise, and runs a huge risk of absorbing too much or too little of a wound, and there's another factor as well; damage drainers are the only ones who can affect blood loss, and he has to keep some strength up for that. He'll hit a limit at some point where he can't fight or heal anymore, and he's trying to stave that off as long as possible.
But he is still available for healing, and is in fact currently assisting one of the forces from Utgard. Despite his low 'battery', Castiel is successfully working on splitting a broken arm into some nasty bruising for them both, but nothing a medium level healer can't fix.
He's willing to help anyone in the field who needs him.]

Battle - Various Locations (Wide Open) d171/172 (Violence/TW in C)
[Samantha refused to hold still. More and more healers were going out, and into the thick of fighting. The ranks at the Arena were holding fast for now, so she left the poultices to those who could handle first aid and charged out with every field medic team she could find that didn't have support. Most of the time she wasn't going to wield her powers, not unless they really needed it. For one, she still hated them, and for another she didn't need to drain all her power.
However, anyone wanting protection from a dirty-fighting and probably very vulgar red-head with body control could find some protection quite easily. At the very least, she knew she wasn't going crazy anytime soon.]
Option B - Night 171
[Even during the periods of lull and the dark of the night, the sounds of fighting could still be heard. Samantha was still on patrol in Loki District. Most of the fighting had kept to the walls and the fringes of the north, but Loki was close enough that some might try to use it as a backdoor into Sigyn. She wasn't going to let any sneaky little bastards through.
Lurking in the roofs, she watched for fires, signs of stragglers, sneaks and the like. She had a vial of green liquid as before, a cold and deadly look in her eyes.]
Option C - Near Sunset 172
[She had fought alongside some of the other more powerful to try and turn the tide against the Dragons. She had been bloodied, patched up and wielded more of her powers than she had ever thought she would. Still, she wasn't dead, and she wasn't about to be dead, but that didn't matter now.
Her eyes were wide and she was backing away. Even with Vanaheim's support helping to make headway, some horrors got through. It was a Lamia, its fiery red and gold scales covering the lower half of its serpentine body and scantily clad garb barely covering the modesty of its human torso.
The cambion rolled out of the way of a lunging strike, desperately swinging with her sickle. She still had juice, but she didn't want to risk it yet. If she could get cuts along her flesh, maybe it would just go away. The look in her eyes, though, was one of sheer terror as the thing laughed at her, seeming to toy with her.]
C!
He prefers his sword, but there are times when a gun is really the best option. One of those is when your opponent has a much farther reach than you do, as is the case in this instance, Castiel's attention caught by the unusual creature before he even realized Samantha is fighting it.
She makes a decent distraction while Castiel aims his shotgun, careful to make certain that the spray won't hit Samantha, firing from the side and behind the creature. He's not at all expecting it to take the Lamia out, but it should hurt it at least, and distract it from the cambion.]

Nakama | Day 172 | midday
It takes only the slightest misstep to send her sprawling to the ground, caking her in blood and dirt and leaving her temporarily blinded to the danger around her. What exactly is it that's coming at her, and will you come to her aid?

Nakama, are you all right? Stay there!
[Her eyes do not move from the enemies in front of her at any moment, not even while she speaks to her friend. Lyon's voice is as cold and steely as the blade she wields, and she patiently waits for her opponents to attack. The first strike is expertly parried, a quick riposte following soon after and dispatching the first imp in a single strike. From there, she moves seamlessly into an attacking stance, closing the distance with the second and striking it down. The third, sensing it is outmatched, takes off in the opposite direction. Only after looking around to see that the coast is clear for the moment does Lyon sheathe her blade and head over to give Nakama a hand up.]

Ruca | Day 171 | Open
Without Asura's power that granted him strength, Ruca feels like he can't do much though. Thanks to some training and help of some people he is able to fight pretty well, even with much lighter blade than the one he's used to, but his attacks aren't too strong and speed is definitely something he's lacking.

Regina Berry | Day 171 | Open
As such, near the Freya border, she is being chased by a rogue monster. Screaming at the top of her lungs, she scampers away as Sinbad the lion, her companion, attempts to fend the beast off.
She also may use her Charm power on anyone else who draws near. She's got to do something! ]

Though she's just not that capable herself. She hates Asgard virulently for, once again, robbing her of her many powers. But she's got shadow control and a nice piece of pipe to work with, and so she goes to war with a shout.
She can't take this thing on alone, though... ]

Day 171/172 | Various Locations | Open
Matsuri knew what she was doing and where to go this time. So instead of running around Asgard trying to find where the battlefield is she jumps straight into the fray. She checks above her every now and then to make sure what happened the other day doesn't happen again.
They were stronger than the other day and Matsuri is getting injured more but they don't seem to be letting up. So Matsuri will settle for retreating when her injuries start to be a problem and get healed before going back.]
[B, Day 171 "rest hours"
The last time she fought in large battle like this she hadn't stayed there long enough to see the bodies. She wanders back occasionally trying to help the wounded get back. But she's tried and hungry and doesn't know how much time she has until the battle starts again. After getting something to eat she tries to find some more wounded, as tried as she was she doubted she'd be able to get to sleep so it was a waste of time trying.]
[C, Day 172
Today seems easier than yesterday, that's probably because of the reinforcements. Knowing that they had allies was a relief. She didn't have to so frantic with returning to fight as soon as she's been healed, the times when she isn't fighting she can be found resting by the healers, even if it didn't completely get rid of her exhaustion it stopped it from getting to her.]
[Day 172 - morning]
He's -- lucky that the glasses he doesn't need are bullet-proof. As it is Conan has a cut on his forehead that could easily have been a lot worse. His clothes, coated in grime and mud will never be the same, but he's resolute, winding his way A. off the field, heading towards the medical tent and the path the Elves and Engineers constructed back to the city; B. In the city, making his way toward the Hospital.]

b: Later day 172 = [Apparently one imp was acting as a decoy, making ??? an easy target for the projectiles of ice headed his way. He can't dodge fast enough, and they hit their mark. There's a yell of pain as the icicles pierce his shoulders, slamming him back into a nearby cart, and effectively immobilizing him there. ??? tries to get up, but the icicles are buried deep into the wood paneling that he can't move without them destroying more of his data in the process.
What a great way to be set up like a sitting duck.
...Except something's going on because ??? looks completely relaxed as other enemies approach. Despite the pain, he focuses all his concentration into his Telepathy, so that as the monsters get close enough, a wild fear overtakes them and they either flee or turn on the others. It's not going to last though, considering how much energy he has left.]

(not) fashionably late, but open!
Feel free to call for help, he'll be very responsive and running on 50% coffee, 50% adrenaline. Even when his healing ability runs out, he has the medical knowledge to deal with a range of injuries!]
[B: DAY 172 wears Yuzuru much more ragged, though. Out on the field and in the midst of trying to resuscitate a dying NPC, he's challenged by a fire-breathing hellhound, not so unlike a cerberus in appearance. Fabulous. Giants, dragons, lamias, and regular rabid dogs were bad enough. By now, he already sports the burn wounds of using his body as a shield from a wounded native. His shirt is completely destroyed, both from him using it to tear makeshift bandages off of and from his involvement in the fray.
There's a look of mixed desperation, dread and terror when he turns to face the monster, his shaking hands finally dropping the lost body of the NPC. His voice breaks.]
D-damn it..!
[He struggles with his small handgun, but he never has the time to aim properly. The hellhound tosses the dead NPC around in its teeth (good eating, apparently...) and swipes a gnarled paw at the burned redhead, pinning him to the ground.]
A
Okay, it's not like his wounds are such a big deal. There are people out there who need help more than he does, so no, he stubbornly is not going to ask anyone for help.
He'll just need to rest for a bit here and then he can go back to fighting...]

A is for Oswin, B is for Oswin and Rory
[ Right, so it's not the most brilliant idea to run around in a battle when he doesn't actually have any weapons on him. In fact, it's a really very stupid idea, but seeing as he hasn't gotten one shoved at him yet and he frankly thinks he has better things to do than looking for a weapon, he'll just keep at it, seeing as it's what he always does.
He's got his ways.
Anyway, he likes to keep those he cares for out of these things. But as he slips along a far wall, he sees someone familiar and--
Oh, no. ]
OSWIN!
[ Stumbling a bit, he rushes over. ]
B
[ The wound somewhere on the left side of his lower stomach has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he doesn't carry a weapon.
At least, that's something the Doctor makes very sure to remark to Oswin, just in case, as he supports himself on her on the way to the Arena. This. Did not go as planned. Ugh. ]
And this is why you stay out of fights.
[ Completely irrational whining, honestly, because he knows this battle needs fighting at the moment. Leave him alone. ]
A.
Oh it's the Doctor. She ducks down and moves towards him.]
Ah, Doc. Sort of busy, if you haven't noticed.

day 172 | closed to Road, Link
Especially when he crosses a quieter expanse to one fallen defender and he pulls up a little short, bending like with the rest to check and see if he's alive. ("Hello, can you hear me?") Try to heal his wounds enough to get him somewhere safer, etc.
This one's past that, though. And he hesitates a little sadly for a moment before beginning to stand to move on—
(except the ground trembles with a thud a bit closer than all the rest)
—and even though he's very quick to whip around then...
Everyone can get caught just a little too offguard sometimes, and he's really only in time to draw a quick breath and see a giant-sized morningstar about to connect with what's probably a good part of the upper half of his body.]

(Because if she did think, it would be about Tyki's face, and how it had looked in the dungeon just before her vision went blank.)]
No!
[Probably stupid to call out like that, because her voice might have made him pause even longer, but it was out before she could stop it. And there's no time to chastise herself for it, because all at once she is charging as fast as she can, vision blurry.
Isn't this frighteningly familiar...
There's no way to move fast enough, no way at all. She's just waiting for the sound of the morningstar to connect with something, anything.
Except...
... it's surprising even for her that her fingers snatch into the tatters of his uniform first and she barely has enough time to shove before the sound of the connect does come with a sickening, gut-wrenching sort of crunch.
And for a moment, everything is utterly numb.]
