A more in-depth explanation of the event can be found at the link above, with some examples of how powers might backfire! As Yggdrasil's core starts to rot and fester, the immortal beings that reflect her essence are feeling the effects ripple throughout them. This anomaly cripples the gods with the feeling of being wrenched out of their bodies, as though a schism is being driven through their physical being and their souls. The Travelerss tied to these souls will feel the schism manifest in their God Powers going haywire.

Day 402 (Feb 11-12): A cacophony of screams tears through the city sometime before noon, seeming to originate from somewhere in Asgard's center. The force of the screams manifests physically, rattling through the streets like a gust of wind. The Travelers feel a brief flickering when their connections to their patron deities pauses.

When the connections are re-established just a few seconds later, there may be the unshakable feeling of something being off, even if that feeling is impossible to pinpoint. Immediately following this, all God Powers will be in a state of utter chaos; they will promptly begin to backfire - and badly - in countless and unpredictable ways.

Note: Virtually anything you can think of where their abilities work against them is free game. Powers can activate unintentionally, they can misfire and hit another person or the user themselves. It's free-game. If you aren't certain of whether or not your mishap is plausible, feel free to run it by us in the comments section below!

Also, if you would prefer your character not use their powers at all, this is also okay! But their powers will be corrupted if they are to use them, and they will still have that feeling of being wrong even if they don't.
Day 403 (Feb 13-14): These power corruptions will continue all throughout the day until around nightfall, when Baldr will have had enough of the torment and will seek to do something about it. He can be seen seemingly floating above the castle as he stands on the invisible barrier and focuses his energy on the broken ties of magic between the gods and their Travellers.

For a solid minute, golden lines of dust that float on the air will be visible criss-crossing, tangling, and otherwise fraying all throughout the city. At the end of the minute, Baldr will give one shout of exertion and every line will abruptly pull taut; the Travellers will feel a tug at their cores, and that feeling of off will vanish. Their powers will return to regular function and Baldr will collapse for some serious R&R inside the castle. What exactly happened and how is uncertain, but as it's the second time to take place, it's about time to start worrying.

[Fortunately, she's quite experienced with keeping positive demeanor even in a bad situation.]

Maybe...! But if it's a serious problem for you, I'm sorry I brought it up. Did I hurt your feelings? [Hee.]

Naw. No feelings hurt. Maybe I'm just a little more self conscious now. Who knows how red I've gotten in public.

[Dave is also browsing them. He isn't completely familiar with these kind of things pass the basics. Hopefully, she knows better with what she's looking for. If they will find anything for it.]

[Magical burns are a little further beyond her purview than she'd like, but she does seem very focused on the task.]

You might. If you had a mirror around at the time, anyway. But I'm glad I didn't hurt your feelings. ... I think I've got the hurting covered for this trip.

Naw. I got pretty thick skin. And I've had worse stuff thrown at me anyways.

[He grimaces just slightly.] Let's hope that it'll be fixed soon.

I'm sure. Well-- I guess that means I won't have to hold back, then, right?

[She offers a wry little smile.] That's what I'm hoping. But-- you know? I don't mind so much. It's not fun, but things could be worse.

Don't say that. That's just asking for it to actually get worse. Even if we don't find anything, I'll walk you home. Wouldn't want anything to happen during transit.

[She turns her face downward, lips still slightly curled but with an appropriate level of shame.]

Right. I won't say it again, then. But-- it's been worse, before. [Anyway-- same vein, probably shouldn't be saying that either. She shakes her head slightly to clear it.]

... Are you sure? It could be dangerous. For all I know, I might hurt you without meaning to.

Let's pretend that it's as bad as it can get. [Or at least that things don't actually get worse.]

I'm tough. I'll be fine. You don't have to worry about it. Like you said. It's been worse. [He's dealt with worse, he's sure.]

[Her breath of a laugh is quiet and a little somber.]

Yeah... okay.

[Her mouth works between a couple of shapes, like she's not certain whether to let herself smile or not.]

'Fine' and 'not hurt' are two different things. I think I'd like the second one better. [But she knows by now that sometimes it's better to give in. She pauses - starts to shake her head and is reminded that she shouldn't.] But you're probably right. You can handle it. I'll just... have to be very careful.

I'd probably prefer it too, don't get me wrong, but worry about yourself a bit more than me. I'm doing pretty peachy as far as shit hitting the fan is going. I'm also not the one who might need assistance as soon as things blow over. [He's looking at you Namine. You with the crazy burns or whatever you even want to call those.]

[She's kind of looking at herself, too, eyes automatically drifting toward her wounds. Gosh, she was trying not to think too hard about those.]

... Once our powers are working right again, I should be able to take care of it myself. [Even if, you know, maybe she shouldn't.] And I'm afraid that may be too much to ask of me. [She can say it with a hint of a smile, though, an obvious enough joke even for its degree of sincerity.] I'm-- usually a healer. It's my job to worry about everybody else.

[And, you know, totally her nature.]

Well, how about a compromise? You mostly worry about yourself and you can worry about me a bit? When things right themselves you're free to go back to worrying about everyone else. [She can do that, right? It's only temporary.] I mean, I'll just have to worry about you twice as much otherwise, and I don't know if you want that.

[In retrospect, he could probably draw her something that would help her, but he doesn't know how well that would work. His powers are probably out of whack and level one drawing life is kind of stupid.]

[Her head tilts slightly, and for once she gets away with it. The 'compromise' bit only comes in at the end, which straightens out both her mind and in her posture.] So it really is a compromise, then. [Can't have him worrying, and all.] ... No, I don't want you to worry. Alright, then - we have a deal.

[She wouldn't want him fooling around with his powers at a time like this, anyhow. Much too risky.]
