[OPEN] Love Me, Love Me Not

[In the middle of the night (or rather the early, early morning), there's a sound somewhat like falling hail. It only lasts a couple of seconds, and is followed by the howl of a single big gust of wind that seems to get through the cracks of windows and doors no matter how well closed or locked they were.

It seems the rain was a shower of candy hearts, and they'll be cropping up all over the place all day!

What could this possibly mean?]

[ And she'll just fondly touch the top of her head before she leaves. ]

[By the time she gets back, ??? hasn't really moved except that he's laying down on the couch, half-curled up on his side and staring off into space while he listens to his music. Door's still unlocked.]

[ Jade lets herself in, careful to shut the door behind her. ]

Hi, Sunny.

[ Her voice is soft, though; she's not going to be too bothered if he doesn't hear her over his music. She just disappears into the kitchen anyway. ]

[key_illusion]

[The music isn't loud enough to completely distract him from his surroundings, but ??? just rolls onto his back with a small wave. Eventually, he'll make his way into the kitchen and grab a chair to watch her, hoping that she's managed to clean up all the hearts while he was searching the bathroom.]

[ She's cleaned up all that she could find, at least; it's always possible that there are some sneakily hanging out. As he enters, though, she's rolling out dough. ]

Hi, there. How are you feeling?

I'm fine. A little hungry but mostly thinking. [He's got a few things on his mind, especially with today's events.]

[nukeoleptic]

Anything you want to talk about?

[ She's moving to check the oven. ]

[key_illusion]

Hmmm... [He leans back in his chair, arms folded across his chest, and head tipped up toward the ceiling.] Well, I kissed Euri today on purpose, sort of.

[nukeoleptic]

[ She twists to look at him, smiling, expression earnestly surprised. ]

Oh my god! That's good, right?

[key_illusion]

...Is it? I was trying to make a point, but it didn't really work. We've kissed before, but the other times was so she could give me energy.

[nukeoleptic]

What kind of point were you trying to make with a kiss?

[key_illusion]

It was sort of supposed to be a comparison to when I wasn't human. It's different now, maybe even better when I'm human, but...it's just temporary. I'd rather not spend time as a human if it's going to be taken away from me again. [And him having a mental and emotional breakdown all over again.

Yes, he is such a killjoy.]

[nukeoleptic]

[ She hesitates, pauses-- dusts her hands off on the front of her skirt, before turning and moving. She's clearly asking permission to hug him. ]

Maybe the gods could keep you that way.

[key_illusion]

...I think they like it this way-- going back and forth. It gets them more color.

[He's not getting up, but ??? does eventually lift his arms up to accept whatever hug may come his way.]

[ It's a brief one, but a tight one, even if she's careful with both of their faces. ]

You're probably right.

[key_illusion]

[Good, she probably wouldn't want the antiseptic transferring onto her face.]

It's still annoying though, even if it is technically helping the city.

[ She wouldn't care, honestly. But she steps back, watching him. ]

I'm gonna finish cooking, okay?

[key_illusion]

[He watches her back, still looking a bit distant before nodding.]
