[ It had worked once before, back in the heat of late summer in Asgard, so Jade was trying it again. She had dragged the sign out to the front of the store, right in the middle of the sidewalk, and written in huge letters:

free hot chocolate! :D
just come inside ♥

The temperature hadn't broken the sixty degree mark today - it was getting chilly fast. Both Orihime and Annabeth were gone, and the store was oddly quiet. Jade will be found keeping herself busy throughout the day with odd little chores when it's completely empty of customers - sweeping, dusting, and occasionally dozing in a booth near the door when the boredom becomes too much to bear. ]

[Hee.] I am, too. It's been a little while since I've had it, but there are... good memories attached. It was so nice of Jade to do this for everyone.

[A nod!] I just hope she doesn't run out. She told me she invited somewhere between thirty and forty people! Golly, I bet she knows everyone in Asgard.

Maybe she does. She's been here long enough. [Laughingly; she's not sure it's even possible to know everyone, but,] With any luck, she's planned accordingly. ... So it's anyone's guess [Kidding, kidding. (And obviously so.)]

[It could be, if you worked hard enough at it.] Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for her to be prepared. Better safe than sorry.

[Probably, but with the frequent flux of the population, it'd definitely be something that needed upkeep.] Mmhm. As they say.

[She spares a glance the direction of the kitchen, even though there's really nothing to see.] I'm sure she could get more, anyway.

I'm sure too, but it's an awful lot to just give away like this...

It really is. [One hand shifts slightly around her mug.] I hope she's not putting herself out too badly...! I'd hate to find out she was inconvenienced because of this.

But she does well enough business, right? I mean, if she wasn't, she wouldn't still have the restaurant.

It seems like it...! That would make the most sense. [Hum.] I know it looked like they were doing fine when I was in here the other day.

She's... probably fine.

[Naminé's just a worrywart anyway.]

[Yeah, probably. Kind of worrisome, that one.]

So-- have you been settling in well?

I have! Though those Gentlemen sure threw everything off for a while. Overall, everything's been pretty pleasant.

[lethechained]

[All of it except the Gentlemen is nice to hear - the change in her expression during that middle part is small but noticeable.]

Good. I'm really glad to hear that. I'm... sorry I wasn't around, during-- well, you know.

[When horrible things were happening in the city she's supposed to be trying to help. :c]

That's alright! I know there were a bunch of people who went on that hippie trip right before, and came back a bit after. It's not like anybody knew that sort of thing was going to happen, right?

Right. [Doesn't stop her from feeling guilty, though.] I went with the others, and we had no idea anything was going on until it was too late. Still, I-- I've never really liked leaving the city for too long. You never know when things might happen, and half the time it seems like they do when some of us are gone. I just... feel like I have a duty, you know?

[cyan_maid]

[She nods as Namine talks, but Jane's...not really sure what to say in return.]

Um...hm. Well - no, I suppose you never know...but I don't think it's something to feel badly about. Even if everyone was around when something happened, we still wouldn't know.

Yeah, you're right. [At least she wouldn't have escaped it so completely, but-- she shakes her head slightly, smile apologetic.]

Sorry. It's just-- this city's been so good to me. It's upsetting when someone happens to the people here and I can't help them.

Oh. Well, I can understand that. It's like your home, and you want to keep it safe.

[lethechained]

Mm. It really is. It's... more of a home than I've ever had before. But-- it's not just that. It's the people, too. All of my friends, all of the natives - it wouldn't be right to just stand by and let something happen to them. I... hope it can mean as much to you some day as it does to me.

[Or at least for her to have as positive an experience.]

That would be nice. It's already so nice to be around lots of people again. I'm - really grateful for the opportunity, to be honest.

That's great. I am, too - for me, Asgard is the only place I've ever been around so many people. [And a number of other things, but,] So-- it was very different for you, before-- [the game--] ... some things happened in your world?

[cyan_maid]

Really? Oh, my...it must have been awfully lonely.

[She nods.] Yes, it was quite different! It was normal, and I really miss it. Though, more often than not I was grounded, so I couldn't exactly go wherever I wished when I wished, but here there's definitely a lot more freedom.

[lethechained]

[... She nods, but briefly; better to focus on the rest of that.] It was. Terribly lonely.

Grounded? [Her head tilts slightly.] Why were you grounded? You don't seem like too much of a troublemaker to me.

[She shrugs.] It was really for my own safety more than anything. I tend to fall into trouble, and my Dad is very protective.
