Day 461 ( June 9/10 ): When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.
Day 462 ( June 11/12 ): The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

( If he remembered being here, also. Maria thought that this place would do just nicely if Loki wasn't here. With what was going to come it could go easier without even more people to wrangle )

How thoughtful. [His tone is so very dry.]

So...[He stops, choosing his words carefully. He hadn't managed to find the words when speaking to Bucky. Chances are Maria would be better suited to telling him what he needs to know anyways.]

Everything worked out? With SHIELD I mean.

Did it fall?

( There's only some of them there that know about it. Her, Natasha and Steve. Whatever Bucky does know is likely not SHIELD related, but they're from similar times. More similar than Stark is )

SHIELD's gone. We're not in prison.

( There's just a lot of mess to clean up. Her mess, with Fury 'dead' )

It's still a long road.

[It's a relief to hear. He knew their plan had worked as far as bringing the Hellicarriers down. He'd been right in the middle of that. But he didn't know how everyone else fared or how the matter was dealt with...after.]

But everyone made it? No one was hurt? [Except him...]

There were some - SHIELD agents that tried to stand against Hydra, the World Council.

( They'd expected casualties. It was never easy to hear but she wasn't going to say that everyone had made it out. He'd hear about it later )

We- ( Their group this time ) -made it out. ( Just never go down with a damn helicarrier again, Steve )

[They had been expecting casualties. It's the price of standing up against a greater force. But it doesn't make him feel any better about it.]

We...[Did she include him in that? Does he want to know?] The last thing I remember is the river.

You were found on the bank. ( Someone had gotten to him before they had - had at least gotten Steve to half-safety ) Spent some time in the hospital to recover, but you're fine.

( Physically. Whatever had happened to him with Barnes - seeing his friend, the fight that had ensued- it was all something that Steve would have to sort out later. But he was alive. He'd have the opportunity to )

Just in time for something new. ( Or here. Which makes her think. The last thing he remembered was the river, which meant his injuries. As if people hadn't had a rough enough entry lately ) What happened after you arrived?

[He was found on the bank. Not at the bottom of the river as he'd been presuming. As soon as the words were out of Maria's mouth he seemed to sag, just a little, in relief. He's somehow managed to dodge death yet again.] That's...really great to hear.

[Somehow he's followed her train of thought and knows exactly what she's talking about. After all, it's what had caused a stir upon his arrival.] When I woke up I was healed. Fresh scars and everything. My uniform wasn't so lucky.

( Either it was just from the bank or he'd come from the hospital. But the hospital would have left his uniform at home. Something from the gods had changed his condition - the travel had healed him or someone had before he'd woken up. So why is she not a little happier about that )

I'm glad you're okay. ( And he definitely seemed fit enough to carry on, though she didn't expect he'd really say if he wasn't ) Maybe we'll be able to get through this.

( It was as much of a doubt about knowing who'd be fighting with them as much as who they were fighting against. The odds weren't excellent. They never seemed to be )

[He's been questioning more than once about the condition he'd been in after arriving, enough to know that the idea of him being healed and not knowing how or by who is startling for most. It would be for him too if he allowed his thoughts to linger on the issue.]

We will. [His tone carries a weight of determination and assuredness that he doesn't feel quite as much as he wishes to. But you wouldn't be able to tell from his expression.] This is not where we're going to fall.

We've got too much to get back to.

( Rebuilding their world after rebuilding this. It's nice to hear him being positive about it - someone has to be. She has hope that they will get through but she's never relied just on that, not with dire odds. Not when things are so unknown, anyway )

Maybe that will push everyone.
