Day 461 ( June 9/10 )

When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:

As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.

A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

Day 462 ( June 11/12 )

The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

[He'd chosen a group pretty quickly, his decision based on the assumption that the power he'd been given would make him better suited for this group. He honestly had no idea if it would, considering he didn't even know how to use it.

He was no stranger to fighting, or getting his hands dirty, but he'd never fought in a war. And he'd never been made to fight a battle that wasn't of his own choosing.

Garth was feeling put out, and against his normal behavior, considerably cranky. He saw the man leaning next to the table, and figured it wouldn't hurt to strike up a conversation.]

How about all this?

[A gesture of his head towards the courtyard.]

It's something, all right, [ Whale remarked, with a frown. ] I guess it shows just how serious the gods are about this battle.

[fizzlesfolly]

Yeah, I suppose it does.

[Garth stepped aside to let someone pass, moving closer to the man.]

I'm Garth.

[He stuck his hand out.]

You sign up for the medics group?

[galvanist]

[ Taking Garth's hand, Whale gave it a good shake. ]

Considering that I'm a doctor myself, it seemed like the best bet. The name's Whale.

That makes sense.

[He nodded in approval, a doctor would seem the likely choice for medics recruitment.]

Nice to meet you, Whale.

[Introductions made, he pressed on to questions he'd found himself asking everyone new he met.]

How long have you been here? I've been here a week now. Sigyn house and all that.

[galvanist]

[ Whale lets out an annoyed little 'pffft.' ] Months. I've been here for a few months, went back home for a few months, but then it turns out that a few months back home was less than a day here.

[ He shrugs, in a sort of 'I have no idea how to explain that' assumption. ]

But Sigyn, huh? Lucky. I'm in Baldr.

[fizzlesfolly]

[He'd been there a few months, and it was less than a day when he came back? Add that to the list of weird stuff that happens here.]

Yeah. You like Baldr?

[He hadn't met Sigyn, or hardly anyone else from his house yet. In fact he wasn't sure if it really mattered what house they were in or not.]

Speaking of home, where are you from?

[galvanist]

Honest opinion? He's a bit of a dick.

[ But, considering Whale called Baldr a douche to his face, their relationship was obviously a little bit rocky. As for the next question, Whale couldn't help but smile a bit. ]

Small town Maine, USA. Specifically, a little place called Storybrooke.

[fizzlesfolly]

[He laughed, his face scrunching up in amusement, both reactions were to Whale's thoughts on Baldr.]

Ha, well, at least now I know.

[Garth noted the slight smile at the mention of his home town.]

I've been to Maine, but never heard of Storybooke. But there's tons places I've never been to or heard of.

[He continued with talk of small towns, aiming towards easy conversation.]

Were you the only doctor there? [Picturing a quaint little doctor's office in his mind.]

Got family and friends back there waiting on you?

[galvanist]

Friends, yes. My family's...somewhere else.

[ In a different world entirely. But that was another story. ]

Storybrooke was big enough to have a hospital. I've got to admit though, sometimes it seemed like I was the only doctor.

[fizzlesfolly]

Oh.

[He knew when not to press an issue, especially when it came to family matters.]

Co-workers not so competent, huh?

[He'd come across those types in his line of work. Strangely enough those types got people killed in both his and Whale's field.]
