Day 461 ( June 9/10 )

When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:

As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.

A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

Day 462 ( June 11/12 )

The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

[ Dreambubbles. Awesome in concept, but they'd been a pretty solid disappointment on and off for her. She hadn't really ran into many people at all over the course of the three years to the alpha session. ]

I get that, I guess, I just. Mmh. It seems like sort of a waste, doesn't it? If everything falls apart here, there aren't gonna be any dream bubbles to be dead in. Maybe it's scary to me? I don't know.

[ She hadn't really given it that much thought. Instead, she just puffs her cheeks open slightly. ]

Maybe you could try the welcoming committee? That doesn't seem that bad.

It's a waste to spend our time fighting something we can't win either way, when we could spend that time being happy instead.

[ Feferi doesn't often get down, but when she does... ]

That's what I was going to do, even though there shouldn't be a need for one! Everyone they don't give a choice to deserves to know what they have been dragged into.

[ Jade hasn't spent enough time around Feferi to know how frequently moods like this might be, but it still pains her. She'd done so much for them in Sburb - it chafes her to know that Jade can't do much to return the favor. ]

Ugh. I wish Sollux was still here, at least. I know he missed you a lot -- you're right about a lot of stuff, I guess.

I wish Sollux was here, too.

[ She droops a little at the mention, eyes misting over. He's been a big part of her thoughts lately, and she's not about to pretend she's not sad that he's not around. ]

I am probably never going to see him again.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. He's come and gone a couple of times - I really, really wouldn't be surprised if he popped up again!

[ But there's something forced about the reassurance. Jade's trying, at least - that much is clear. ]

Sometimes I read some of our chats from back when we first met. Wonder if that's super weird.

[ Feferi is just not good with technology. Especially not magic bracelet technology. ]

What? Oh, yeah, everything is saved and stored, it doesn't go anywhere. D'you want me to show you how?

[ Right. Not everyone is a techno-geek, she reminds herself. This sort of thing isn't necessarily intuitive. ]

Uhm... [ She hesitates for a second, then nods. ] Yeah, I think I'd like that.

[ She's not sure what she's even going to to see, or if she'll actually want to see it, but how much could it hurt? ]

[ She chews thoughtfully on her lip, glancing around. ]

Let's find a bench! We can sit away from all the noise and I'll set up my bracelet so we can both see the hologram super easily.

Okay!

[ Feferi looks around and points a seemingly arbitrary direction. ]

I think there's some over there.

[ Jade is more than happy to just start heading in that arbitrary direction. She'll keep an eye out, finally settling on a bench and patting the seat next to her. ]

This'll work just fine.
