Day 461 ( June 9/10 )

When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:

As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.

A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

Day 462 ( June 11/12 )

The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

[As it gradually became clear for whom the glare intended he quickly waved a hand. All in fun, Leonardo just smiled, taking none of the criticism to heart. He did have sloppy handwriting after all and had no problem about being teased for it.]

Do not mind them. They are only trying to retaliate for all the questions I asked them earlier.

[If it was truly the great man, which she had no doubt it was, it really was an honour for her.]

There is nothing wrong with questions. I'd far rather have a barrage of questions than risk a mistake later.

Asking questions is the beginning of knowledge.

[Agreed and... speaking of which, he can not help but use that to segue into one of his own. ]

Are you an inventor or maybe even an architect?

I'm a scientist, not an inventor. I tend to be able to look at this, take them apart, and figure out how they work, as well as the best use for them. Though sometimes my job requires that I come up with... inventive solutions to problems.

Finding inventive solutions to problems is just what we could use right now.

[He reached out to offer a hand. ]

I am glad you decided to join the team.

[She gave a small laugh, before shaking his hand in return. Well, if they needed inventive solutions, you couldn't get better than Leonardo da Vinci, truth be told.]

So am I. I suspect we shall get to know each other better in the coming months, at least.

[Hand freed again he stepped back offering her a rather 'mickey mouse come the the clubhouse' hospitable sweep of his arm.]

I do have a workshop in Asgard so if there is ever anything you need I have a bunch of tools and supplies there, you would be welcome to use them.

You do? I feel that could be extremely useful. For what I've seen, there has been a huge reliance on magic, which will make our job a little harder, I fear. Perhaps we should do a sweep around, see what we can find before any problems start.

There is another group for supply coordinators, maybe we should make a few friends in their number?

[Sly grin. Sounds a bit black market but it might come in handy some day.]

And reliance on magic... I am not sure that is such a terrible thing. I have found drawing life to be a very helpful skill.

That sounds like an admirable idea. I'm sure everyone will wish to help each other.

[Nothing wrong with a bit of black market.]

I'm still getting used to the idea. I come from an era which has a reliance on technology, and I find myself missing it.

It can be difficult to find a way to combine the two.

The technology of my age is probably not as advanced as yours, but I do miss the simplicity of knowing that a wall built would keep dangers out. In Asgard a wall only means the invading force will use magic to teleport themselves into the middle of the city instead of bothering to climb or breach it.

[She couldn't help chuckling at the thought.]

And yet we are to fight against magic like this. Oh well, I always enjoyed a good challenge, I suppose.

A challenge, that is a very healthy way to look at it!

It's the only way to approach things like this. Take the bull by the horns, and face it head on!
