Day 461 ( June 9/10 ): When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.
Day 462 ( June 11/12 ): The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

[It's a fairly reasonable guess, yes, but he can't be faulted for wanting to be certain of the details just in case. After all, anyone can hang around any of the booths if they really want to. But he supposes it might make some sense that Kate would consider this particular option.]

Well, I looked around, and none of the other groups really made sense. I'm not a fighter, at least not in the military sense of the word. Nor am I a medic. Building, and making sure things keep running... it was really the only choice.

[And she would love every minute of it.]

[Not a fighter and not a medic. Yes, that sounds terribly familiar. He's still not certain it's the best way to make a decision, but it is a decision and he'd like to think that no one can fault him for having managed that much.]

For the both of us, I think.

[And this is something that he actually sort of likes doing, even if the orders are going to take some getting used to, yet.]

[She tried to think of other things he could do... and failed.]

No, you're right, it does make perfect sense. I'm only surprised more of you haven't joined in.

Well, I'm only one of me. The only one of me, or the only one of this specific me, at least. And even if I might sometimes have the same opinions as my other selves, that doesn't always mean I'll like the same things.

[There's the barest idea of a shrug to go with his words, but he means what he says. He really can't guess what most of his other selves might be drawn to.]

True. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of you all. [She is fighting back a smile at that thought.] It does get a little confusing, I must admit. Knowing about you isn't the same as interacting, not like Dad did.

It would be, I imagine. Although really, it was the me before this one that spent the most time with UNIT.

[Not that Four hasn't had some time with UNIT, but only on a handful of occasions. When there hadn't been anywhere else and he'd been clear enough that he shouldn't be called back for simply anything besides.]

But maybe you'll get to see enough of us here to get a little used to it, eh?

Yes, he did somewhat, though not exactly through choice, from what I understand. [Oh, her father's files were extensive on the Third Doctor, that was for sure.]

I think I am starting to get used to it, yes. Well, as much as anyone can.

That's all any of us can ask, I think. Especially when there's more than even we might run into on a regular basis.

[Which is still an odd thing to think about, or would be, if he let himself dwell on it more. But it's enough and that will do. Besides, sometimes it's nice to have another of his selves around to speak to. Even if they don't always get along.]

I think what we see on Earth still falls in to the 'strange' catagory. Here is another level of strangeness entirely.

[One she is getting used to quickly. Life is like that, it seems.]

[It always is, yes. And the longer you stay with any one thing the more it becomes normal.]

It is different yes. Not quite as immediate as anything that we might have been dealing with when I was last with UNIT, but definitely not the same sort of thing at all.
