Day 461 ( June 9/10 )

When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:

As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.

A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

Day 462 ( June 11/12 )

The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

"Aliens? Ah, like the Doctor's people? I suppose it would be too much to hope that all of them were as kind."

He nods. "You have spoken of your father before - it sounds like you have done him proud, Kate."

[scienceleads]

"Of a sort. There are other aliens out there, but yes, I know the Doctor well - have worked with him in the past. But there are lots of nasty aliens around about, as well as nicer ones." It was just unfortunate that Earth saw more than it's fair share of the ones who wanted to cause trouble.

"I hope I have - no, that's not true, I know I have. For so long I didn't have him in my life, and it was the one thing I always wanted - to do him proud."

[bythewaves]

"Tis a hard thing to lose a father." Maglor sounds wistful and sad - he knows that grief all to well. "But tis a good thing to know that Men have such stalwart defenders. Oh but your world sounds so interesting Kate - so many things beyond the walls of the world, so many places and people to see."

Brig is in the Fourth Wall event! Kate is happy

"Well, to be fair, your world sounds interesting to me," she pointed out with a smile. "So I think we are probably even on that score."

He IS????

Maglor chuckles in return "Then we shall have to hope, when this is all over, that our patrons will allow us to visit each other eh?"

"That would be nice, wouldn't it." She smiled as she thought about it. "Can you imagine it? All of us turning up in each other's world for a reunion picnic?"

"It would be a joy indeed - to meet again those thought parted by distance insurmountable, and to do so with new worlds to explore?" Maglor laughs. "Aye, I would enjoy that greatly. Let us pray that it might be so!"

[scienceleads]

His enthusiasm made her laugh. "Oh, how I would love taking you to see some of the places in my country. I feel you would like where I lived. There is a sense of history about it, as well as a forward thinking philosophy."

[bythewaves]

He grins back at her, looking young for a change. "I would love to see them, aye - a chance to explore has always been near and dear to the hearts of my kin. And you would love my world Kate - I could take you to see Lothlorien, before her glory fades, and Rivendell while the Eldar still dwell there, and Minas Tirith, white and fair, rising above the green fields of the Pelennor Fields."

[scienceleads]

"Oh it sounds wonderful," she admitted, smiling as she thought of it. "It always seems a shame, to bring people together here, and then one day pull friendships apart, for home we must go at some point." One day, this war might even be over.

[bythewaves]

"I would welcome a visit by all the friends I have made here." Maglor agrees. "If not, then at the least I will hope to carry the memories with me - Eldar do not forget, unless we wish it" Sometimes, not even then murmurs Celegorm's ghost.

"That way, I can at least preserve the memory of the good folk I met who have done so much for a weary wanderer. It would, as you say, be a terrible shame to forget all of this."

[scienceleads]

"I envy you the chance to carry the memories like that - though sometimes I can imagine it would almost be more of a curse than a pleasure." Memories weren't always good, after all.

[bythewaves]

"Aye, it has been a double edged sword far too many time." For I will never forget the faces of my victims

A shrug "But the good memories are worth keeping."

[scienceleads]

She nodded, understanding to some degree. The choices she had to make at times were harsh, but needed to be done, even if that meant sacrificing a few lives for the greater good.

"And it is the good memories we need to hang on to."

[bythewaves]

"Without them life is cold and empty." He nods. "I have far too much in my past that I wish I could forget, and yet, those choices have made of me who I am, and it would be the height of discourtesy to forget them."

[scienceleads]

"Both the good and the bad shape us. There is always things we regret, but would we be who we are without them?" It was a question she'd often pondered, mostly oddly when she was about to nuke the entirety of London to stop the Zygon invasion. "It's the age old question."

[bythewaves]

"True enough" He nods. "I would like to think I am old enough now to be sensible about my past and yet it still catches me out. Perhaps it is not something that any ever truly reconcile themselves to."

[scienceleads]

"I know how old the Doctor is... roughly, and honestly, I don't think he will ever be sensible about his past." Of course, he had a lot of past to try and reconcile, but meeting the War Doctor was an eye opening experience. "So perhaps not. Maybe acceptance is the best we can hope for."

[bythewaves]

"I wonder which of us is the elder" Maglor chuckles lowly. "But aye, perhaps acceptance is the best we can hope for."
