Day 461 ( June 9/10 ): When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.
Day 462 ( June 11/12 ): The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

[Clementine's head turns to face Ril when she hears the voice, feels the hand at her shoulder. There is a nod as she swallows. Of course, in public she's trying not to show how worried she is about all of this. The fighting. The risk of people getting hurt or dying. The risk of Ellie, Lee or her Doctor getting hurt or dying, especially.]

Yeah. Medics seems...like a decent compromise. I don't have my healing anymore but I know basics with first aid. And Lee and the Doctor probably wouldn't let me near signing up for patrol or the military.

You're a good hand with wrapping wounds and the like. And if needed, you can use your new ability, no? It'll be all right. [Ril settles next to Clementine with a twist of a smile.]

I was terrible I think. I have signed up for Military and Medics both.

My shadow control might be able to help with injuries? I didn't necessarily think of using it that way. But maybe. I'm still practicing, getting the hang of it.

[There's a pause as she considers that. Both groups are important, but likely while the military is busy, so too would the medics. She's not sure how that might work in helping with both.]

Are you sure you could? If the military is out fighting, we would still need medics too. They'll get hurt.

[ Ril's smile is soft as she nods.] You must remember that with shadow control, the limits of what you create are within your mind. You could use a shadow to create, for example a touriquet to help stem loss of blood, or a bandage until one is available. You could aid in carrying someone, too. There's much that can be done if you practice.

[Ril waves a little.

I am sure. If I am there in the middle of the soldiers can get to them quickly. It would be more effective and I will be able to clear areas for the rest of the medics to work in. I have been at war for a very long time, this I know I can do.

Oh. Right. I'm still figuring it out, but I could help do that, sure. It's just taking a bit of getting used to when I used to have healing. I'll still need to figure out the limits with it, but that stuff seems simple enough.

[Clementine considers, giving a nod.] I guess I could see how that might help. I just don't know if Lee or the Doctor would let me try something like that. I finally have something I could use more offensively too.

Knowing the Doctor,probably not. But if you practice and can show him that you can help in that manner... [She waves a little.] They will come around and you are not helpless.

I know they both mean well. Want me safe. I think sometimes they both just see me as that little girl they first met. [But she isn't. Not anymore. That girl is gone. Such hope and optimism and enthusiasm she used to have and bring. It worries her at the same time, as she told Ellie once. How she is now in comparison, what the others might think of the change in her. If they knew all she had seen and done since.]

I know I'm not helpless. So do they, but I'm still gonna bet on them not letting me near the military. Medics I can probably get away with at least.

[She's seen enough back home that she is fairly certain nothing, no injuries here will really surprise her or scare her. Not after the walkers back home.]

War should not be for children, but you aren't a child. Not anymore, I think. [She presses her lips together, and she knows. She's seen the way Clementine carries herself now.] You are like my little Pilots, my children who have seen too much and done too much. But yes, helping the Medics should be safe. But if it isn't, you won't hesitate to do what is needed.

[,small>Ril's expression is filled with sorrow, but there are things that can't be helped, and she can't prevent the things that must be.]

War doesn't care if anyone is a child. It's not just the soldiers that are affected. Everyone is. Regardless of how old we are, or if we are men or women. You either fight and survive or you don't.

[Have to be strong. Stronger. Smarter. Do whatever it takes to survive. Lee died attempting to save her, and Clementine has no intentions of wasting that. Wasting this gift of her life he has given her.]

I won't hesitate. I'll protect them, if the giants are stupid enough to try attack us.

You're right on all of those. [Ril nods solemnly.] And good. I didn't think you would. Not a chance.

[She gives Clementine a long serious look, though.]

If you need me, though, you let me know, and I'll be there if I have to come through a battlefield to do it.

Right. I'll let you know if things get bad. We should be all right though.

[Because if the medics weren't safe, or well, as safe as she could be in the fighting, there's no way Eight or Lee would let her sign up, of course.]

[Ril nods again.]

It should be, at least we can hope so. In any case, that's what I'll be doing out there. Keeping the medics safe and healing the cases too severe to bring back.

I think having at least one healer out there would help. You can at least help with the worst of it until you can get them somewhere safe, bring them to us.

[She understands that logic at least. The idea behind what Ril obviously intends on doing. It makes sense and there's a nod of agreement.]

I've enough energy to last awhile, too, and though I'll meet protest myself, I mean to do it. I'm sure once we've had a proper battle the need will become apparent. [There's a tiny gesture.] too, for your own talents.
