Day 461 ( June 9/10 )

When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:

As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.

A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

Day 462 ( June 11/12 )

The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

Hey, free earplugs. He'll pocket them just in case he ever finds he needs them.

Still, the fact that Hamel is prepared for such a thing speaks volumes. "What, bad experience?"

He makes a face. “Let’s just say some people in Freyr can’t aim. Friendly fire. Music. Whatever.”

He can’t keep the offended tone out of his voice - even though he can’t use it in Asgard, Hamel still considers magical music to be his thing. After making his enemies cry and run in fear, being in the receiving end of the effect is pretty unpleasant.

“Besides, you may never you when someone’s gonna abuse it.” Like Hamel always does back home. “Magical music’s really powerful.”

Oh, this smells of a great story.

"Hey, you can't just leave it at that! What happened? Did they make you do a weird dance in the middle of a fight or something?"

“What? NO!! That’s the Marione - “ Wait, this isn’t home, it’s a different power - “Body Control!”

He shakes his head, trying to calm down. God just the thought of being humiliated like this is enough to make him angry…

“Ugh. What was I saying? Oh yeah, it wasn’t that. There were these giants at Alfheim, Maglor started singing at them to make ‘em go away and he ended up magic’ing me, too.”

"Poor you. It must have been very traumatic."

He doesn't even try to keep the hint of laughter out of his voice.

“It wasn’t traumatic, dumbass, but it's pretty fucking distracting when you’re right in the middle of a battlefield!”

Hamel grabs a pen from the table and throws it at Yuusuke.

“I bet you'd like it even less.”

And he'll just casually sidestep out of the way.

"Then I guess it's a good thing I'm not the one getting into fights on the battlefield!"

It's much too upfront of a tactic for someone like him.

Two more pens are coming. At this rate no one will be able to sign up anymore.

"Oh, that's right. Guess you're too much of a pussy to do that."

Wow Hamel, way to take out your frustrations without any care for the poor people who might want to use those.

That said, he'll just continue to dodge out of the way with a near catlike grace.

"Is there something wrong with wanting to avoid major battles? I'm just a teenager, after all. I'm not even old enough to join the military back in my country."

Hamel keeps throwing thing - the person running the booth did the smart thing and grab anything that wasn’t bolted down, so he reaches in his cape to throw an apple, another pair of earplugs and a half eaten bread roll. He doesn’t even look angry, more fascinated by how much Yuusuke can keep up. It’s turning into a game.

“You’re what, sixteen? That’s old enough.”

He catches the apple and dodges the others.

"What a waste of food. There are people who might want to eat that stuff, you know.

And for your information, I'm not even sixteen yet, so I'm still technically underage."

He shrugs.

“First, you can eat it and I was gonna take it back if you didn’t catch it. And second, it’s not a matter of age, it’s a matter if you can or can’t fight. I guess you just can’t.”

"And is there a problem with that?"

He tosses the apple up and down, playing with it idly. It's no skin off of his back if he's thought of as a coward.

He shrugs.

"The problem is yours. I don't really care."

[not_sasuke]

"Well, I didn't really have a problem with it to begin with, so I guess that means we just don't have any problems at all."

And since that's settled, he'll go ahead and start snacking on that apple.
