Day 461 ( June 9/10 ): When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.
Day 462 ( June 11/12 ): The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

Have you decided where to lend your skills?

Anything less would be an insult to all those I met along the way...

[So he'll do everything in his power to do just that.]

I think so. [There is a bit of doubt in his voice. It's not that he's indecisive, but rather the chosen profession still a little bit hard to swallow.] Being a soldier seems like I'll be able to protect as many others as possible. [As dangerous as that will be, he'll do it.] If my family ever found out...

[He shrugs slightly.]

What about you?

[He's silent for a moment before replying, as if he's mulling over his answer—or Souji's.]

I could be a soldier as well. I've the training for it, and we are here to fight a war. But I wonder if there's a way to fight that involves less battle and less loss of life.

I've never had real training. [It might be surprising to others, but probably not to a well-trained eye. Souji's training was good, but it still lacked the strikes a well-trained soldier would have.]

There were circumstances in my own world.

[He nods at the other's words.]

I did my best back then so that everyone could live...I've learned here that what you want to happen and what happens can turn out differently. Still, I'd rather have less harmed along the way.

Those are the words of a wise man, or one who could be someday. It's a pity that they so rarely prevail in war.

[Martial spirit and the bigger army tended to carry the day in such times, leaving wisdom and learning to those who picked up the pieces in the aftermath.]

But I like to think this war can be different. There is a group of those who believe similarly, operating with Odin's blessing.

Odin's blessing...

[Having that backup is certainly an impressive pedigree. At this point, Souji's weapon is back into its holder, as he becomes completely all-business. A proposition of another group, maybe? Whatever this is, he's smart enough to know it's serious if it's got the Asgard king's approval.]

...I'm listening.

There are a number of Travelers capable of fighting as well as anyone else, but whose strengths let them operate better in stealth and silence. A strike force, if you will.

[Or pseudo-Assassins, but he'll stay quiet about that part.]

War will still come to Asgard. But we may be able to lessen its devastation this way.
