EVENT LOG: GOOD GOD, Y'ALL

Who: EVERYONE
What: the Good God, Y'all mingle log.
When: Days 461-462 ( June 9-12 )
Where: the castle courtyard
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

Day 461 ( June 9/10 )
When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

Day 462 ( June 11/12 )
The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

[ OOC NOTES: This is the mingle log for the Good God, Y'all event. Remember that all characters must be signed up for at least one group by June 12. Information on the currently established groups can be found here; sign-ups are in the comments section on the same post. Please put [OPEN/CLOSED] along with the time/location in the title of your comment. Let us know if you have any questions! ]

There have already been significant levels of damage. During the war, Alfheim's forests suffered from extensive fires. Extremely large spears of ice have slammed into buildings, earthquakes come. There have been dragons in the past, hurling fires from the sky.

And do not concern yourself. As you said, it is better to be prepared.
yamagishi: (That is their tragedy)

[As she listened to him, her eyes widen]

It seems like they really do intend to fight until the end! And only when everything is destroyed isn't it? Do you have any reason why they would want to do this? There's got to be a reason why they're so determined to fight like this!

[Without meaning to, her voice rose a little higher than normal.]

I do not. I attempted to read up on them, but it seems that the fire giants are extremely warlike to begin with, and not prone to diplomacy. This war is numerous seasonal cycles past already, long after our own lifespans by a significant degree. I expect that all sides may have forgotten its original cause.

As with all great wars.
yamagishi: (FML)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-03 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
It's just a war where no one would listen no matter what we did. [She mumbled to herself] Not even giants care anymore if anyone lives or dies, they just care if they win or not.

I'm not sure what to think about that to be honest. It seems like the Gods are making us have no choice either way.

If the words of a few are to be believed, Surt does not care if he wins, simply that the great war is his to have. Like the star in his own expansive and incredible play of war. I can appreciate his love, and their rabid bloodlust, even as I cannot allow myself to fall before it.

As for the gods, there was a choice, but it was made by many of us. You have come extremely late to this... but if you do not wish to fight, truly do not, there are non-combatant roles. I simply think there's possibilities for one such as you.

[Now this was a new turn. If the people wanted to fight and end this war, what can she do? Already from the start, there was no way for her to end this peacefully. While she knew that she couldn't do it by herself, she figured that there would be others who would be willing to back her up.

That didn't seem possible now. She can see why they would rather fight than to let the Giants end them like this though.]

No, it's okay, I can understand why they would fight now. They rather fight than to let the Giants destroy them like this.

[She will admit, this felt oddly familiar though]

Back home, I know I made the same decision with my friends to fight along side them against an entity that we couldn't defeat.

Ah yes. That reminds me a bit of Noir. He was thoroughly beyond our capacities as well. [He grunted in recollection.] Were you ultimately successful, if I may ask?
yamagishi: (Default)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-04 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, we were. Although, we did lose a friend in order to do so.

[And all her other friends went through a lot in order find out what happened to him as well. While he is in Asgard, what would happen should he go back home?]
alternia_strength: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-04 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. One loss is considerably more acceptable than a near total loss. We barely escaped with our existence intact, and success was definitely not possible. At least you were successful.
yamagishi: (A Shade of Monochrome)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-05 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose but that loss...no, those losses were enough to make us rethink our lives and our choices.

And one of them willingly gave up us life for us. I don't want to live my life with any regrets now that he did something like that!
alternia_strength: (Ummm?)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-05 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
...willingly? [He cocked his head and looked at her in confusion.] Why would they do something of this nature? Sacrifice leaves you a man down after all.
yamagishi: ((unsure))

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-05 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's more that...

[How can she even word this?]

If it weren't for his sacrifice, we wouldn't be here today. He gave us a chance to continue living. If it weren't for him, I don't think I would be here today.
alternia_strength: (Riiight)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-06 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Huh...

[He looked at her, frowning. There was a moment where he seemed to be confused, legitimately confused. And then he remembered Kaworu's comments and he simply nodded.]

Trolls do not do this. That is not a ... bad thing, but we do not know how to be like this. Selfishness is inherent in our sacrifices. We sacrifice to gain, not to give others.
yamagishi: (FML)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-06 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[For a moment, Fuuka had to think about what she could say to him. They were from different worlds with different concepts about humanity and selfless as a whole. She pondered for a moment before she finally said something]

Mind if I ask how? How so you sacrifice in other to gain?
alternia_strength: (Conversation)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-06 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
We don't sacrifice our lives, naturally. Lesser sacrifices in order to acquire what we want. You humans do much the same. We simply don't go beyond that.
yamagishi: (A Shade of Monochrome)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-06 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Blink blink]

I'm sorry but you'll need to be more specific. I think you mean about how we use food as energy?

[Where was he getting that?]
alternia_strength: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-07 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
... nothing like that. For example, accepting pain to get through a barrier and reach a goal. We do not kill ourselves so that the others get through the barrier, but a little pain never hurt anyone.
yamagishi: (FML)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-07 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Equius, you do realize what you're saying there right?]

That still sounds a little like what my friend went through regardless.
alternia_strength: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-07 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Prooooobably not. He was, however, a bit of a masochist.]

Ah, was he unaware of the extent to which he would be in pain when he went through it?
yamagishi: (Uh...Aigis?)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-08 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so, I think he was aware of what he was doing.

It's more that we didn't know what he was doing until much later on.
alternia_strength: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-08 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. I don't know that it is something that I will easily understand, likely partially because I was not actually present for it.
yamagishi: ((unsure))

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-09 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[....]

To be honest, when she first found out, we didn't know how to react. It was a lot to take in and especially when he had done so much for us.

We didn't know he was protecting us against a harmful creature until much later.
alternia_strength: (Riiight)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-09 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Interesting. One of these days, I think I would like a more thorough explanation, though I expect there are aspects of this that are beyond my comprehension. The conflict, after all, has no context for me.
yamagishi: (Default)

[personal profile] yamagishi 2014-07-10 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Pause]

Then mind if I ask you something? Does the name Nyx or Erebus sound familiar to you?
alternia_strength: (Conversation)

[personal profile] alternia_strength 2014-07-10 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Neither. I think I may have encountered one as a human concept for the underworld once, but that would be the only way.
