EVENT LOG: GOOD GOD, Y'ALL

Day 461 ( June 9/10 ): When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.
Day 462 ( June 11/12 ): The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

[Someone was in good spirits. Really good spirits. Why, Equius was practically beaming pride when he signed up for the Engineers.

Why? It was because he had the opportunity to create still greater constructions of war for the cause. He didn't actually care one whit whether or not the lot of these creatures lived or died. It was the implausible challenge of working with such terrible equipment and sub-standard materials that had finally drawn him in.

Anyone could find him easily near the sign up sheet, ready to add to the bandwagon. Some of the natives were probably trying to shoo him away, since he had a tendency to make people nervous.]

[Between people trying to sign up and being unsure, Fuuka was definitely one of the people who was rather nervous about signing up right away. However, she also knew that there wasn't much time for her to think about it. It was either this or have something else happen and she didn't want to cross the Gods right now.

Although, once she was up to the sign up sheet? Don't mind her just...staring at him.]

[His lips quivered and he flexed his chest muscles, pectorals shifting as a result of a shrugging of his shoulders. It was all autonomic, unintentional, but it likely wasn't helping Fuuka at all right now. He glowered down at her with bristling, jagged, yellowed fangs in what was meant to be a smile.

Lions might consider it a smile.]

Thinking of assisting in the rebuilding and siege implementation?

[Whatever he was doing, it wasn't doing much to ease Fuuka's anxieties just yet. She knew it was rude to stare but when Equius happened to be the first person whom it was obvious that he was from another world?

Let the awkward sink in]

Ah...I-I'm not sure? I never thought about rebuilding the city but um.... I guess I could try?

[Please don't hurt her!]

[He slapped at her shoulder with a palm, his lips parted into a smile that would have made a vulture proud. He was trying to usher her towards the paper with a clearly pleased air about him.]

Believe me, we can find training for those inadequacies in preparation. Have you been gifted powers that could assist, perhaps? Alchemization does wonders for the process of reconstruction and excavation.

[What what? No, what just happened? She didn't say she will do it but might make an attempt at it?

Either way, with that sudden slap across her shoulder, she just blinked at him some more.]

I don't know? I arrived here just a couple of days ago and I have yet to find out what my powers are just yet? All I know is that I'm in Odin with powers associated with him...?

[Don't mind all the questioning answers. She's just...still not too sure what to do around him!]

Ah, fire and ice. Either can be exceptionally useful both in combative faculties and in reparative. Fire in particular has applications in heating the metal so it can be refitted. [Another slap at the shoulders.] You're going to make an excellent Engineerimator...

[He gave a bit of a look. No, no, he wasn't sure about that name. Damn, what had they called the Troll army corps of engineers back home? He'd been too dead and away for too long.]

[She gave another wince from the shoulders and only gave a small chuckle in response]

But the problem is that I still don't quite know what my abilities are? If they are either fire or ice, I'm still not too sure how well it will turn out? And I'm not sure if I'll be a good um...

[What's the word just said?] engineer?

[Close enough! If it were computer engineering, she would have no problem! But engineering alone? Oh boy.]

Well, workers, builders, any sort of task in the process of construction is useful. You do not have to be an actual engineering proclivity on its own. Your power, after all, could be used to help set up catapults to rain fiery death down upon our enemies. Imagine! You could light pitch and see it hurled at the frost giants' ranks and watch them explode!

It will be glorious!

Goodness, you're very passionate about being an engineer and um....fighting our enemies with a lot of detail.

I don't think I'll be suited for this kind of job regardless of my powers or not. It's a little different from what I had in mind? And especially with the construction of building Asgard.

[Oh boy, let's see where this goes]

War is a thing of passion and excitement, the sort of operation that cannot be handled in a half-way fashion. [He listened to her and sighed a little, clearly somewhat disappointed.]

Well, if I may ask, what is it that you feel that is your talent, human?

[He ... might be trying to find excuses to convince her to join regardless.]

[She's doomed no matter what she does, isn't she?]

Well, my passion is computers and I try my best? I'm not really cook at cooking but when it comes to engineering, I'm better with electronics rather than the things Asgard has to offer right now?

[And sealing her fate in 5..4..3..2..1....!]

Electronics you say? You are an expert in the workings of electronic creations and the functioning of hardware, software and other such fabrications?

[He was going for her hands with wide eyes behind his glasses.]

I require an assistant! Simple hard-wiring works here. You could help me fashion explosives!

Um...yes? Yes, I am? I know how to manage those things if I need to?

[And as he managed to take a closer step toward her, she took a step right back!]

B-But I said I can't do that! I don't want to work on such things that could harm people! It's all about building the city, not destroying it, sir!

Ah, but if we build the weapons, they can destroy the enemies from a distance who would seek to damage, decreasing the respective workload of exacting repairs would they not? I suppose I could handle entirely constructive work, but to put limits on the sort of creation we could accomplish together would be such an unacceptable possibility!

Yes, yes... if you have fire, you could simplify the usage of a blowtorch with some training, couldn't you? Perhaps light bellows...

[He just wasn't giving up was he?]

Um, I'm afraid you're not understanding. I just don't want to build stuff for the sake of violence! I know there are enemies that could hurt us but I don't want anything I make to be weapons regardless of what my powers are!

I just don't want to hurt people enemies or not!

[But she knows she does have to sooner or later]

Pacifism? [He frowned, visibly a little perturbed before shrugging and sighing.] You're a bit like someone I know from home. I would still welcome the additional experience in this sort of thing, but we might be better served to send you towards the welcome committee or something similar if you have no wish to fight at all.

[siiiiiiiiiiiigh, and she had such potential.]

You make it sound like it is a bad thing. [Fuuka said as she gave a sigh. Admittedly, she was a little scared of Equius but she also knew better to let herself be dragged into something she didn't want to be in.]

While we do have to fight, I don't think pacifism isn't all that bad.

I come from a world where it is considered exceptionally close to suicide to be pacifistic. [He grunted and put his arms up under his chest, crossing them and sighing.]

I have known one troll who was mixed in his success. I do not know that I suggest that route, but it is your choice.

What do you mean? You mean that in your world, you always need to fight or else you'll have to die? [Pause] Goodness, that's just...terrible.

I can't see why we can't just find a way to get along somehow.

That is exactly what I mean. Only the strong survive, might and prowess in battle being an indication that one is not a fool but valuable enough to be a tool of the greater empire. [He grunted sourly.] I personally love that aspect of our society. We do not breed weaklings. It makes us great.

As for the giants, I expect that they are unwilling to simply talk. they have not in the past.

There are different types of strengths that don't involve fighting. I believe that as long as you have a strong enough will to do anything, it proves that you are powerful to defeat most things!

[Such as Death.]

Ah, you are freshly arrived or within a limited span are yo not? [He grunted and seemed mollified a little bit. Time in this place had a way of affecting people after all.]

I suppose there is strength in some forms of technique, but we are a martial species, one of conquest and warfare. The giants, here they are the enemy. A little taller than a tall man, muscled, powerful and deadly, with larger and more fearsome allies.

...or smaller and deadlier in the case of the blasted pixies.

Yes, I arrived here a couple of days ago but that won't change my opinion. [Maybe it will maybe it will not but as of right now, she is stubborn with her beliefs

I have faced some rather fearsome creatures before, some that might as well be giants. [Then there was a pause] However, I will admit that it will be different here compared to back home.

I have heard as much in the past. If you can uphold that, I will be surprised, but I will not refer to it as impossible. It does occur occasionally.

But, you say that this will be different? Exactly how did you face them before if not violently and what do you expect to be different?
