EVENT LOG: GOOD GOD, Y'ALL

Day 461 ( June 9/10 ): When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.
Day 462 ( June 11/12 ): The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

But anger and hatred are such beautiful and romantic emotions for my people. They're part of how we propagate our species. These aren't undesirable traits for my people. In fact, we cannot survive without them as a species.

Um....that's quite different from how it is in our world?

Love, friendship, and anything related to it is how we grow as humans? Although, I do have to ask. What is your world like? It's starting to see that it's different from our world though.

Well, I have had it explained that our emotion of Pity, tied to procreation in other directions, is very similar to your human notions of love. We appreciate something of that sort as well, though it carries a more protective aspect to it, a desire to preserve from the hostilities of our world.

It is a hellish hive of destruction and carnage, from which only the most powerful and potent emerge victorious to join our galactic empire of conquest. It was a glorious, violent and deadly place.

[Fuuka... what have you gotten yourself into?]

It sounds like your world is rather destructive and thrives on the ideas of violence. That's quite a change from how our world would see something like that? You are right, pity can be seen as something like that but I think that would be the closest thing to love to us.

Although, it is still strange to see another world that's so different from our own.

[But this is starting to sound more and more like a medieval like world to her]

For a few seconds, the girl just stared at him in awe. How can he say that with such a calm face?]

I...it's okay but like I said before, I don't intend to fight. If I do, then it will be away from battlefield.

[And you know? Without a blade in her hand?]

Of course. It does not mean that I don't think the image would be ... at least interesting. [He shrugged.] Perhaps... perhaps a bow. People use those for personal meditation.

[Oh glob, he was reaching with that. He might literally start sweating if he thought too long about anyone holding a bow.]

Um...even if I were to use a bow, I don't think that would be possible. While I would like to avoid fighting, I'm afraid I don't know how to fight at all.

[Hm...]

I am an excellent teacher, I assure you. With my tutelage, you will be striking the horned moo beast's ocular cavities perfectly every time.

[He means hit a bullseye.]

[She stared at him for a few seconds before moving on]

I'm still not too sure about the idea of fighting regardless. However, I do know that there is a chance that I do without my Persona though.

[Without Juno around, what else can she do? She knows she has a power here but either abilities from Odin aren't very support based either.]

Target practice is not fighting. It is simply striking a stationary target. However, I do not believe I can truly force the matter... [Even if he's being really pushy.] Regardless, you may contact me should you wish lessons.

[The young girl sighed as she shifted around her weight. This world was forcing her to make a decision and fast. Within a few days, she had to make choice to join the effort for the battle or else be put in jail. She didn't want to anger the gods but wasn't healing enough?

She would much rather be on the sidelines but she will admit. There was only so much she can do being support against a war. It wasn't similar to what happened back home.]

Mind if I ask you something? How long have you been here in Asgard? What information do you know about this place?

[Well, might as well start getting information now and make her choice later.]

Extensive information actually. I have been here for a portion of a sweep, though... time is difficult to tell for me here. Most people in this place attempt to measure time somehow based upon solar days, and they gauge it differently than we do.

I would say, if I understood people here, several months is accurate.

I see...

[So time is different here. She'll have to look that up for later. But there was something else at hand she wanted to look up on.]

Then can I ask what happened during your stay here? Or at least a general idea of what is going on?

[He scratched at his chin.]

Numerous individual events. Something strange happens every few days in this place. Attacks are usually every thirty solar cycles or so, though sometimes not here directly. The last serious fight was just outside of the boundaries of the city, and created significant destruction.

The standing ice that covers the northern gate was one of the attacks. Do not touch it.

I wasn't planning to, I wouldn't dare touch anything that dangerous!

What kind of damage? It is enough where it could have long damage effects to the war and to the city? [Pause]

I apologize that I'm asking so many questions but there is still a lot that I need to know before I can join this war.

There have already been significant levels of damage. During the war, Alfheim's forests suffered from extensive fires. Extremely large spears of ice have slammed into buildings, earthquakes come. There have been dragons in the past, hurling fires from the sky.

And do not concern yourself. As you said, it is better to be prepared.

[As she listened to him, her eyes widen]

It seems like they really do intend to fight until the end! And only when everything is destroyed isn't it? Do you have any reason why they would want to do this? There's got to be a reason why they're so determined to fight like this!

[Without meaning to, her voice rose a little higher than normal.]

I do not. I attempted to read up on them, but it seems that the fire giants are extremely warlike to begin with, and not prone to diplomacy. This war is numerous seasonal cycles past already, long after our own lifespans by a significant degree. I expect that all sides may have forgotten its original cause.

As with all great wars.

It's just a war where no one would listen no matter what we did. [She mumbled to herself] Not even giants care anymore if anyone lives or dies, they just care if they win or not.

I'm not sure what to think about that to be honest. It seems like the Gods are making us have no choice either way.

If the words of a few are to be believed, Surt does not care if he wins, simply that the great war is his to have. Like the star in his own expansive and incredible play of war. I can appreciate his love, and their rabid bloodlust, even as I cannot allow myself to fall before it.

As for the gods, there was a choice, but it was made by many of us. You have come extremely late to this... but if you do not wish to fight, truly do not, there are non-combatant roles. I simply think there's possibilities for one such as you.

[Now this was a new turn. If the people wanted to fight and end this war, what can she do? Already from the start, there was no way for her to end this peacefully. While she knew that she couldn't do it by herself, she figured that there would be others who would be willing to back her up.

That didn't seem possible now. She can see why they would rather fight than to let the Giants end them like this though.]

No, it's okay, I can understand why they would fight now. They rather fight than to let the Giants destroy them like this.

[She will admit, this felt oddly familiar though]

Back home, I know I made the same decision with my friends to fight along side them against an entity that we couldn't defeat.

Ah yes. That reminds me a bit of Noir. He was thoroughly beyond our capacities as well. [He grunted in recollection.] Were you ultimately successful, if I may ask?

Yes, we were. Although, we did lose a friend in order to do so.

[And all her other friends went through a lot in order find out what happened to him as well. While he is in Asgard, what would happen should he go back home?]

I see. One loss is considerably more acceptable than a near total loss. We barely escaped with our existence intact, and success was definitely not possible. At least you were successful.
