Day 461 ( June 9/10 )

When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:

As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.

A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

Day 462 ( June 11/12 )

The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

Um, the military, the city patrol, and the engineers. I don't think I'd do well in any of those.

So nothing that involves fighting or making things.

How much first aid do you know?

Umm, I know how to take care of a scraped knee. And mom taught me how to properly bandage a small cut. But that's about it.

[She never really needed to learn first aid or anything like that.]

So the medics aren't a good fit, either.

[Looking her over...]

You... probably aren't very good at carrying around a lot of stuff, are you?

Huh? What kind of things. I used to carry everyone's books to class and I help carry in the groceries when we go to the store at home.

[not_sasuke]

Probably rations, medical supplies, that kind of stuff. I hear there's a group trying to coordinate handing out supplies to parts of the city during emergencies and that kind of thing.

It sounds like you'd have to be a really fast runner for something like that though. Especially if it's something really important that they need like medicine or bandages.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought.

[Hmmm...]

Well, I guess there's one job that's so easy, it's impossible to screw up...

What's that? [She didn't object to accepting an easy job, at least that way she wouldn't bother anyone.]

The Welcome Committee. All you need to do is pop by and say hello to newcomers. Show them where things are, stuff like that.

[Yuiko nods. She could do that, she was usually the one that got elected to talk to new students all the time. And it was always fun to meet new people right.]

I could do that! I'd get to know a lot more people too.

Nice and safe, too. I think a job like that would definitely suit someone like you.

Really? Then I'll do my best and sign-up for the welcoming committee.

Ah but what group did you sign up for?

I signed up for the city patrol.

[Yuiko nods.] I didn't really use it until recently, but Ame and a few others have been helping me practice.

So forward? [Was it really being forward to offer to help give him an energy. . . unless he thought she was offer to . . . suddenly Yuiko's entire face turns red.]

A-ah I didn't mean that we'd have to. . . It would just be on your hand or cheek something we wouldn't have to you know.

"Just the hand or cheek" - that's still pretty affectionate though, don't you think?

[Was it starting to get warm? Wait, if it was affectionate did that mean that Ame really didn't mind or what if he did, what he thought she was a total creeper now. Ack what if Ritsuka found out and hated her for it. Did that mean she'd had a first kiss now, or did that only count when it was on the lips?]

W-w-well some places kiss on the cheek as a greeting r-right.

Well, lucky for you I don't make a habit of using up my powers too much. But...

[He reaches out here, lightly cupping her cheek with her hand.]
