[ for a moment there, the glare softens into something just as sincere, an open longing. she wasn't a good mom, she knows so much. she hadn't showed her love for Henry properly and though she loved him, loved him fiercely enough to end a thousand curses for him, she failed to show it as she wished to. she tried, she did try, everything she did was to be better for Henry and it would be too easy to slip into her old ways now that he isn't here but if Henry taught her something, is that she has to strive to be Regina, his mother, rather than an evil queen so she keeps her tone civilized. ]

It doesn't seem like it right now, but it'll be fine. Let me take you to your Welcome Hall and you can find your room and get your head on straight. It'll make a lot more sense in a few hours.

[ she walks alongside him still because. he is right about one thing, she needs to be alone so she could think of a way out. ]

My son is - he's nowhere I want him to be and now he's trapped there while I'm trapped here fighting a war with the power of charm.

Charm is a pretty useful power, actually. It can get you out of getting killed -- it's worked for my brother once or twice.

[Sam shifts his box around a bit to create a small ball of fire in his palm, his expression equally dry.]

I'd rather have that than fire magic, personally.

[ and regina watches it and her annoyance shows on her face. fire magic was her preferred method of magic, something simple and natural that she now could do no longer. to see someone else have it - well. if she had this, she wouldn't need to charm anyhow. ]

I fail to see how charm is less useful than this in a war.
