[This was so stupid. Whale had just stood and frowned as the maids explained everything (magical powers what). The more he learned, the more aggravated he was getting. Quite frankly, he had enough of magical curses, fighting evil foes, giants, magic powers, all of that jazz. Whale can be found around, outside on the streets...hovering. This was even more stupid than he thought and frankly, he was annoyed by it. Out of all the magical powers he could get, he was stuck with hovering? He was a doctor and he knew there was a healing house, info that he got by listening in on some other conversations and browsing through the bracelet network (add in bracelet network to the list of stupid things), why the hell wasn't he put there? He'd have to take it up with the gods-surely they could reswap powers or something like that.

However, as he flies around, exploring the city, he slowly realizes that he's absolutely shit with his power-shown by him bumping into people in regular intervals. Turns out that when you're flying, it's best to leave some room for landing.

Later, he's found in Sigyn District, poking around, asking anybody there questions about the district. He had figured out that this was the house with healing powers, so he's bugging anyone who looks like they weren't new and confused.] You're from Sigyn House, right?

[Finally, at the end of the day, Whale makes his way over to Baldr House. Tired from a day of exploring and using his power, Whale walks over towards the kitchen, intent on making himself a cup of coffee, but instead he sits down at the table and slumps his upper body over it. He was tired. And really, he knew he had a room, but there wasn't any problem in catnapping in the kitchen for a minute...or maybe five.]

[The various House powers are one thing Jane hasn't gotten as much information on as she would like. And it's always interesting to watch somebody use them, especially when they don't seem to have it completely under control. Especially as levitation isn't one she's seen very much of, personally.

So, yes, standing on the sidewalk watching him is probably a little rude, especially as she's not exactly subtle about it, but that's what she's going to do. At least for a few minutes, before she decides to approach instead.]

Hey! Flying guy! [Well, she doesn't know his name and she had to get his attention somehow, right?] Mind if I ask you a couple of questions?

[Okay, so he's got the flying thing down (ish). He can only levitate a few feet at the moment but he can at least navigate. Landing...leave much to be desired.

Which is a bit of a problem when a pretty attractive woman calls him over to ask a couple of questions.] Don't mind at all. Let me just land...

[He lowers himself to the ground and lands, with a little trip and stumble. Hey, his feet are on the ground, that's what matters. Trying to regain his dignity, he looks over at the woman, giving her a grin.] Like I said, I don't mind. Ask away.

[She's perfectly happy to wait, especially since it gives her a chance to study his attempt at landing up-close. Not too close, granted, because she doesn't want to be landed on, but closer than she was. She reaches out to help when he trips, but he's upright before she can, and she drops her hand with a smile as he turns towards her.]

How long have you been practicing for?

Literally an hour, [Whale remarks, with a small little smirk. He puts his hands in his pocket, watching Jane. He is perfectly content to answer as many questions as she wants because she is VERY pretty.] I've just arrived here.

[shesearches]

[Don't tell her that, she will bombard him with them. Data! She never has enough of it.]

Oh! [She looks a little sheepish, and offers a small wave.] Uh. Welcome to Asgard, then. Sorry, if I'd known -- most people don't start playing with their new abilities straight off. I should probably be answering your questions. Do you, uh, have any?

[galvanist]

[Questions will lead to flirting and flirting will lead to (at least in Whale's mind) sex.]

Hey, I got a shiny new toy, of course I wanted to play with it. [he smirks slightly at Jane, paying no attention to her smile.] Anyway, I read the guide, I think I've got the gist of this place. So like I said, ask away.

[Well, he can try. He's not getting anywhere, but he can try.]

[She laughs, shrugging.] Most people get a little busy with the 'where am I, why am I not home, and by the way where's that house you told me about', I think. Shiny new toy comes later. [Immediately after finding housing, for Jane.]

But if you're sure, then - which House are you in?

You know, suddenly showing up somewhere and receiving a magic power isn't one of the weirdest things that's happened to me lately. [because Storybrooke sucks and magic curses suck even more.]

The maids said that I was in Baldr, whoever that is.

( he hasn’t been part of sigyn’s house for very long, but mccoy still looks up from where he’s reading on a bench outside the main house and lifts a brow. it’s still strange to align himself with the place, but he figures for as long as he’s here he might as well have a place to belong to. )

That’d be why I’m sitting here, yeah.

Good, [Whale responds, with a nod and a frown.] Got any idea how I can swap to your house?

[sufferably]

( he blinks. that was... not what he'd expected. )

You tried asking the gods, or whatever?

[galvanist]

Hey, I figured if it was something as simple as filling out a form, then I wouldn't need to bother with asking the gods. [But apparently, it was harder than Whale was expecting.]

[sufferably]

I doubt filling out a form unbinds your soul, or whatever the hell it is they did.

( he rolls his eyes. )

Why'd you care so much, anyway?

[galvanist]

Because I'm in the wrong house, [Whale remarked, with a frown.] Look, I've been listening to conversations and reading the bracelet internet ever since I got here. Sigyn's the house with the healing powers. I'm a doctor, I should get healing powers.

[sufferably]

( okay, now that's kind of hilarious. )

If you're any good, you wouldn't need the healing powers, would you?

[galvanist]

Of course I'm good, [said with a little scoff because hello there ego.] I just thought that if we're going to be stuck with arbitrary powers, healing's better for me than flying.

[Eight blinks and stops, looking the man over. Not anyone he recognizes and he's asking one of those questions that just screams "I'm new here", so...]

Yes, yes I'm in Sigyn. Are you new?

[galvanist]

Unfortunately. [As shown by his grumpy expression, Whale obviously wants to be anywhere but here.]

Do you have any idea how to swap houses?

[Eight's eyebrows shoot up.]

You mean, how to be claimed by another god? You don't.

Well, I suppose you could try to appeal to Sigyn to give you to one of the other gods. But...considering that question would probably be upsetting to her, I have a feeling the answer would be "no".

Why? What's wrong with Sigyn? She's a lovely woman. At least you're not stuck with that ass Baldr.

[galvanist]

[A pause, while Whale just mentally counts to five. when he speaks again, his words are tense.]

I am stuck with that ass Baldr. I want to get into Sigyn's house.

[beforethewar]

Oh. I see.

[He tries not to be amused by the whole situation. Still, he can't help but chuckle.]

Then you truly are doomed, I'm afraid.

I take it Baldr's not one of the more friendly gods?

[beforethewar]

No, I'm afraid not. I don't usually call someone an ass lightly.

[He used to say it about Thor, but then Thor risked his life to protect everyone and rescue them from the alternate Asgard, and so he at least gets the respect of not being called names.]

I must say, besides my friend Turlough being a bit uncomfortable being in Hel house because of the connections with death, you're the first person I've seen who's so keen on swapping houses.

It's less that I want to swap houses, more like I want to swap powers. I heard that Sigyn has the healing powers: I'm a doctor, healing powers would help.

[at least, they'd help more than flying would.]
