Welcome to Lux —

It's been under construction for about a month, and anyone in the Baldr district (or who just liked to wander) surely would have noticed the bar's construction. It was only a few days ago that the sign was finally put up—Lux.

Maybe you saw the owner's post on the network and decided to come see. Or maybe you were just walking past and was curious about the crowd of people who had gathered. Regardless, you'll be welcomed into a ritzy bar and lounge. There are some locals mingling about, and jazz is drifting through the air, since the owner is currently playing.

Should you decide to stay, you'll find that the drinks and food are very generously half price for grand opening. Or, if that's not to your taste, then surely the music and crowd will make up for it.

Welcome to Lux, the bar owned by the Devil himself.

[8| Hey hey hey, no laughing at him. But he does find himself relaxing a little more.] What's Freyr like? I'm still evaluating all of the other houses here.

Evaluating? [ that's an interesting way of putting it ] Hm. Well it's - convenient! Um - haha. Freyr is supposed to be the "artist" house according to Diva, so it's really beautiful. The district has lots of things for art, you know? Music, painting, singing - things like that.

[wasthemaster]

Yes, evaluating. [Ranking, evaluating, analyzing. That's what Draco's taken to doing these days. She only has to say "artist" before he can understand why she's even there.]

Sounds like it's absolutely perfect for you, actually, considering. Guess the gods really do take an in-depth look and take personality into account, however disturbing that is.

Why, what kind of people is Baldr supposed to be for? [ She's been doing much of the same, quite honestly, her scientific side on equal footing with the artistic one. ]

[wasthemaster]

[...well. He'd done some research. He'd learned just what kind of people Baldr housed, and though it makes sense to him, he's not sure he really wants to tell Rapunzel just yet. However, he's also got a feeling she wouldn't accept a "I don't know" answer.]

Those that are confident. [It's...not exactly a lie. It's just not disclosing the whole truth. Nothing wrong with that.]

[glistens]

[ Oh that makes perfect sense and she nods sagely as though she'd known it all along. ]

Oh yeah. That's great for you, Draco. You are very confident. And you definitely look like you belong here.

[wasthemaster]

[He'll just echo that sage nod, possibly just mocking her.]

I'll take that as a compliment. Besides, Baldr's colors match the colors of my house at school back in my world. It's more or less a seamless change.

[corona]

You went to school too? Wow, that...that seems like - a popular past time! Ahah.

[ There's a pause as she considers it, though, frowns thoughtfully.

After a moment she turns back to him with a look that's just a little too imploring to be casual. ] What was it like?

[It will never cease to amaze him just how much Rapunzel has missed out on in her life.]

Seven years, in fact. Sort of. I'm in my last year. It was...well, it's a boarding school, which means that nearly ten months out of the year I live there, and it's a castle. Hogwarts students aren't allowed to attend school until they've reached the age of eleven, and once they arrive they're sorted into one of the four school houses. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and of course the best, Slytherin. Once we're sorted into our houses we stay there all seven years and we room with the same people all seven years. I shared a dorm with four other boys growing up. [Which made things kind of hard in sixth year, but details...) Anyway your housemates are the people you share your classes with as well, though often times the teachers would combine lessons so that you shared with another house.

We learned everything...Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Defense against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, Astronomy and Herbology were always required. Once you reached your third year, you had to pick two other subjects, mostly stupid stuff like Divination or Care of the Magical Creatures. Our school was just like every other school in the world. We went to lessons, we had homework and then we had exams.

Considering it was a boarding school, we also shared meals with the entire school three times a day. There's around one thousand of us in the school most of the time, not including the staff. We had sports, too. Quidditch was popular. Each house had their own team, so if you were on the team like I was you had practices on top of everything else. Sometimes we would have special events and such. Once you're in your third year, you can visit the nearby wizarding village, but it loses its appeal after a while, believe me.

All in all, nothing too impressive. [And at the same time he's almost begun to miss it as soon as he started talking about it. He's almost hoping Rapunzel will ask more questions so he can keep talking about it, or that she'll change the subject so he can stop thinking about it. It's a hard call.]

[ The second slight change in his voice is a subtle and intimate enough warning to have her pause after he finishes, the smile that's been growing with each word softening as she realizes that to pry any further would be crossing a line. Invisible and unspoken, a line she doesn't exactly understand for the social consequences of it but which exists nonetheless. Stopping would be the polite thing to do right? If he lived at this place for all those years - that's a great chunk of his life. Which means it isn't just education she's asking about - impersonal - but him. Yes. Changing the subject would be the proper thing to do.

But she doesn't.

Instead Rapunzel stands abruptly with a look of set determination and without much in the way of asking for permission reaches to grab his hand. ] Come on. It's really loud in here. We're going to get something to drink and then we're going to go outside and then you can tell me more. [ she pauses in her tirade to smile again ] I sort of really only understood some of that, after all.

But - I'd really like to understand. About...your life and your world and magic and - and how it works. Everything.

[In a sense, it's rather bold of her to a.) decide to press boundaries and b.) grab him like that, and in a way it surprises him enough that he can't even protest fast enough. He blinks at her for a few moments, torn on how to respond to that. On the one hand, talking about home would mean possibly talking about how home isn't exactly magical and wonderful anymore. On the other hand, talking about home made the reminder that it existed more prominent and he got to brag about how wonderful the world was in its prime. What was it that girl had said to him? Something about remaining positive.

So, instead, he settles for the safest answer possible as he gently wretches his hand away to stand up.]

Didn't realized you drank. [But he's nodding and soon he's heading for the bar, fulling expecting her to follow. After all, this was her idea.] I'm not sure about everything, but we'll see how much you can understand.

shh i didn't see anything

[glistens]

[ It's a good a response as any in Rapunzel's head. Beaming with the triumph of his acceptance, she starts through the crowd with much less anxiety than before. ]

Oh I'm sure I'll be able to get it if you explain it right. Pascal says I'm good at things like that. I taught myself to use the microwave this morning! Isn't that great? And I didn't. [ she's totally not humming either ] Drink, I mean. Until today. Have you ever had a strawberry daiquiri, Draco? Wow.

Of course I'll explain it right. It's my life, isn't it? [He himself is a bit less anxious as he leads them on. He won't exactly ask her what a microwave is, but he's suspecting it's something that's quasi-complex. Instead, he settles for--] Sure, that's great. Remind me who Pascal is?

[He has to shake his head at the last question though.] Never in my life. Recommend it, do you?

Hmm. [ she stops to consider, tapping her chin ] Do you like strawberries?

[wasthemaster]

They're not bad. [Yes, he actually does enjoy them.]

[glistens]

[ She probably looks a little happier than is appropriate at that. ]

Then I definitely recommend it.

[wasthemaster]

[Oh Rapunzel.] Then I suppose I'll definitely have to try one. [And he will order one once they get up to the bar because you know what, why not.]

[glistens]

Eee! [ In the end she has to cover her mouth to keep from squealing again after that initial squeak. But it doesn't keep her from hopping in place as she watches the bartender. ] Trust me. It's. Amazing.

[wasthemaster]

I'll be the judge of that. You're not getting one too, are you?

[glistens]

[ just. smiles ]

We could always share.

[wasthemaster]

...[He is so amused right now but also ten shades of wary.]

Do I look like the type to share, Rapunzel?

[...he'll just take his drink from the bartender who's finished it up, look at Rapunzel, look at the drink and sigh.]

Just this once, and don't you dare tell anyone about it. Shall we head outside?

Sure. [ shrug ] I don't know why I would tell anyone about it. Who would I tell?
